A photographer races to catch a mountain sunset, but a burst tire may cost her the shot.
小澜是业余摄影师，unknown岁。她骑车在云南山路上拍照三个月了，相机里有unknown张照片，但她还在等一张特别的。
Xiaolan was an amateur photographer, twenty-four years old. She had been cycling Yunnan's mountain roads taking photos for three months. Her camera held hundreds of pictures, but she was still waiting for one special shot.
晚上，她在住处用手机看一张照片：云南山脊上的日落，天空是橙紫色的。那里只有骑车才能到，她决定去拍。
That evening, in her room, she looked at a photo on her phone: a sunset over a Yunnan mountain ridge, the sky orange and purple. The only way to get there was by bike, and she decided to go and shoot it.
她本来打算六点出发，可是收拾东西太慢，结果七点才上路。她很着急：只有五点半前到山脊，才能拍到那样的光。
She had planned to leave at six, but packing took too long, and in the end she only set off at seven. She was anxious: only if she reached the ridge before five-thirty could she catch that kind of light.
山路又陡又弯。随着海拔越来越高，空气越来越凉，风景也更开阔了。小澜停下来拍了几张，觉得这条路也值得拍。
The mountain road was steep and winding. As the altitude rose, the air grew cooler and the view opened up. Xiaolan stopped to take a few shots, thinking this road was worth photographing too.
下午两点多，小澜正骑着车，突然“砰”的一声，后轮胎破了。她翻遍背包，才发现没带补胎工具。她蹲在车旁，不知道怎么办。
A little after two in the afternoon, Xiaolan was riding along when suddenly there was a loud bang: the rear tire had burst. She searched her whole backpack and only then realized she had not brought any tire repair tools. She crouched beside the bike, not knowing what to do.
已经两点半了，到山脊还要三个多小时。她想：“即使现在修好，也来不及了。”她靠着车坐下，半天没说话。
It was already two-thirty, and the ridge was still more than three hours away. She thought: "Even if I fix it now, it'll be too late." She sat down leaning against the bike and said nothing for a long while.
六十多岁的老农民背着大竹筐从山下走上来，问：“姑娘，怎么了？”小澜说轮胎破了，没带工具。他放下竹筐，拿出工具：“这是我儿子的修车工具，你用吧。”
An old farmer in his sixties came up the mountain road with a big bamboo basket on his back and asked: "What's wrong, miss?" Xiaolan said her tire had burst and she had no tools with her. He put down the basket and took out some tools: "These are my son's bike repair tools. Go ahead and use them."
小澜道了谢，开始修轮胎。她学过一点，可是手一直抖，修了快四十分钟。老农民坐在石头上等她，有时看她一眼。
Xiaolan thanked him and started fixing the tire. She had learned a little, but her hands kept shaking, and it took her almost forty minutes. The old farmer sat on a rock waiting for her, glancing at her now and then.
修好后，小澜把工具还给老农民，再次道谢。已经快四点了，即使骑得再快也来不及了。
When she had finished, Xiaolan gave the tools back to the old farmer and thanked him again. It was nearly four o'clock. Even if she rode as fast as she could, she would not make it in time.
小澜还是往山上骑，想拍路上的风景。随着太阳落下，阳光变得柔和，把山坡染成了金色。她停下车，举起相机拍照。
Xiaolan kept riding up the mountain anyway, wanting to photograph the views along the road. As the sun went down, the light grew soft and turned the hillside gold. She stopped her bike, raised her camera and took photos.
她本来想拍山脊上的日落，结果在山路上拍到了黄昏。相机里有弯弯的山路、远处的村庄，还有老农民的脚印。
She had meant to shoot the sunset on the ridge, but instead she captured dusk on the mountain road. In her camera were the winding road, a distant village, and the old farmer's footprints.
天快黑的时候，小澜慢慢骑车下山。即使没拍到那张日落，她也不觉得今天白跑了一趟。
As night was falling, Xiaolan rode slowly down the mountain. Even though she hadn't got that sunset shot, she didn't feel the day's trip had been wasted.
回到住处，她打开电脑看今天的照片。虽然没有山脊日落，但是有破胎的车、老农民的竹筐、金色的山坡。她挑了几张发到网上。
Back in her room, she opened her laptop to look at the day's photos. There was no sunset over the ridge, but there was the bike with its burst tire, the old farmer's bamboo basket and the golden hillside. She picked a few and posted them online.
她在照片下面写：“谢谢今天在山路上借给我工具的老爷爷。”然后关上电脑，很快睡着了。
Under the photos she wrote: "Thank you to the old man who lent me his tools on the mountain road today." Then she closed the laptop and soon fell asleep.
