劳拉是美国人，她在成都教英语。她每天骑自行车去学校。有一个星期五早上，她发现自行车上有一只纸鹤。纸鹤很小，很漂亮。劳拉不知道是谁放的。她心里很奇怪，也很开心。
Laura is American. She teaches English in Chengdu. Every day she rides her bicycle to school. One Friday morning, she found a paper crane on her bicycle. The paper crane was small and beautiful. Laura did not know who had left it. She felt puzzled, but also happy.
第二个星期五，又有一只纸鹤。第三个星期五，还有一只。劳拉想：“是不是有人喜欢我？”她每次都把纸鹤带回家。她家里现在有三只纸鹤了。她觉得这个人多好啊，可是她不认识他。
The second Friday, there was another paper crane. The third Friday, there was one more. Laura thought: 'Is it true that someone likes me?' Every time, she brought the paper crane home. Now she had three paper cranes at home. She thought this person was so kind, but she did not know who it was.
劳拉去问她的邻居。她的中文不太好，说得很慢。她问楼上的老奶奶：“是你吗？你放不放纸鹤？”老奶奶摇摇头。她又问对面的年轻人：“是不是你？”那个人也说不是。劳拉有点儿难过。
Laura went to ask her neighbors. Her Chinese was not very good, and she spoke slowly. She asked the old woman upstairs: 'Was it you? Did you leave the paper crane?' The old woman shook her head. She asked the young man across the hall: 'Was it you?' He also said no. Laura felt a little sad.
第四个星期五，纸鹤又来了。这次里面有一张小纸条。劳拉打开一看，上面写着：“你学会了吗？”劳拉不明白。她走到楼下买菜的地方。卖菜的阿姨姓王，每次都教她说中文。王阿姨看见她，笑了。
The fourth Friday, the paper crane came again. This time there was a small note inside. Laura opened it and saw written: 'Have you learned yet?' Laura did not understand. She walked downstairs to the place where she bought vegetables. The vegetable seller, Auntie Wang, taught her Chinese every time. Auntie Wang saw her and smiled.
劳拉问：“王阿姨，是不是你？”王阿姨点点头，说：“你每次说错了，没关系。你说，好吗？”劳拉心里很温暖。她大声说：“谢谢你，王阿姨！你多好啊！”王阿姨笑着说：“你的中文越来越好了！”劳拉不怕说错了。
