Every Friday, a paper crane appears on Laura's bicycle. She asks everyone she knows in Chinese—but who keeps leaving them?
劳拉是美国人，在中国教英语，每天骑自行车去学校。星期五早上，车上有一只纸鹤，很漂亮。她不知道是谁放的，觉得很奇怪，也很开心。
Laura is American. She teaches English in China and rides her bicycle to school every day. On Friday morning, there was a paper crane on her bicycle. It was very pretty. She didn't know who had put it there. She found it strange, but she was also happy.
第二个星期五又有一只，unknown个星期五还有一只。劳拉想：“是不是有人喜欢我？多好啊！”每一只她都带回了家，家里有三只了。
The second Friday there was another one, and the third Friday there was one more. Laura thought: “Does someone like me? How nice!” She took every one of them home, and now there were three at home.
劳拉中文不好，很怕说错。她问楼上的老奶奶：“纸鹤是您放的吗？”老奶奶摇头。她又问对面的年轻人：“是不是你？”他也说不是。她有点儿难过。
Laura's Chinese wasn't good, and she was very afraid of making mistakes. She asked the old woman upstairs: “Was it you who left the paper cranes?” The old woman shook her head. Then she asked the young man across the hall: “Was it you?” He also said no. She felt a little sad.
unknown个星期五，又有一只纸鹤，里面有一张纸条：“你会用中文问问题了吗？”劳拉想：“是谁想让我说中文？”她去楼下买菜，卖菜的王阿姨常常教她中文，看见她就笑了。
On the fourth Friday there was another paper crane, and inside it was a note: “Can you ask questions in Chinese now?” Laura thought: “Who wants me to speak Chinese?” She went downstairs to buy vegetables. Auntie Wang, the vegetable seller, often taught her Chinese. As soon as she saw Laura, she smiled.
劳拉问：“王阿姨，是不是你？”阿姨点头：“我想让你多说中文。你看，你问了很多人，说错了也没关系。”劳拉大声说：“谢谢你！”阿姨笑着说：“你的中文好多了！”劳拉不怕说错了。
Laura asked: “Auntie Wang, was it you?” Auntie Wang nodded: “I wanted you to speak more Chinese. See, you asked lots of people, and it's okay to make mistakes.” Laura said loudly: “Thank you!” Auntie Wang smiled and said: “Your Chinese is much better!” Laura was no longer afraid of making mistakes.
